→ In contrast, human’s modern history over the last 100 years has witnessed the loss of hundreds of thousands of species ranging from famous ones like Tasmanian tigers and dodo birds to unnamed ones.

→ What causes that loss of biodiversity can be effortlessly named as poaching and environment pollution.

No single species on earth can survive without others; in other words, all are inter-dependent.

Ý 1: Humans are on the top of natural food chain and take a major hit every time a species is listed on the list of extinction.

→ E.g. Corals, plant-like animals that take root on the ocean floor, provide an essential ecosystem for a quarter of all marine life.

→ If coral reefs are completely wiped out, food source of over 1.5 billion people will be gone.

Ý 2: The animal world is positively compared with a store of medicine.

→ In fact, scientists have discovered solutions to fatal diseases as a result of research conducted on animals and substances extracted from animals’ bodies.

→ Without those precious sources, a new epidemic may become incurable, beginning the collapse of human civilization.
