Some people say that it is possible for a country to be both economically successful and have a clean environment. Others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion?

Ý 1: a prosperous economy is associated with industrial development, which requires enormous amount of energy source and raw materials, ranging from wood to coal

Ý 2: as a consequence of more advanced economy, citizens with higher living standard have increasingly greater demand for consumer goods

-> waste, both solid and liquid one, is transforming the earth into an inhabitable place

-> as an illustration, a person in this century produces 5 times as much garbage as one in the previous century

(Như một hệ quả của nền kinh tế phát triển, người dân với mức sống cao hơn ngày càng có nhu cầu lớn hơn về hàng tiêu dùng - chất thải, cả rắn và lỏng, đang biến trái đất thành một nơi có thể sinh sống – như một ví dụ minh họa, một người ở thế kỷ này thải ra lượng rác thải gấp 5 lần một người thế kỷ trước)

Đoạn 2: It is possible for the co-existence between economic growth and clean environment

Ý 1: Thanks to tremendous capital capability, affluent countries have been applying their breakthroughs in science and technology in figuring out measures to curb adverse impacts of economic expansion on the nature

-> find alternative energy sources which are environmentally friendly and sustainable

-> It is predicted that in the next 5 decades, oil, coal, gas and other fossil fuels will be totally replaced.

(Nhờ nguồn vốn lớn, các nước giàu đã và đang áp dụng những đột phá của họ về khoa học và công nghệ trong việc tìm ra các biện pháp để hạn chế những tác động tiêu cực của việc phá triển kinh tế lên môi trường - tìm nguồn năng lượng thay thế thân thiện với môi trường và bền vững. Trong 5 thập kỷ tới, dầu mỏ, than đá, khí đốt và các nhiên liệu hóa thạch khác sẽ được thay thế hoàn toàn)

Ý 2: clean environment facilitates a sustainable economy

-> Countries whose natural habitat is well-preserved benefit from the influx of tourists worldwide in the form of eco-tourism, the “non-smoke” industry. In contrast, nations that are trading off their environment for temporary financial advantages will lose their most precious resources
