Ý 1: Prison sentence has long been the most prevalent method to deal with crime and it has proved itself to be effective.

→ The fear one person may have of losing his freedom, the most valuable thing in life, is literally a powerful deterrent against his criminal acts.

→ Therefore, the longer imprisonment is, the stronger defense it becomes to protect society from illegal activities, especially dangerous ones such as assault, murder or terrorism.

Đoạn 2: Tuy nhiên, còn nhiều biện pháp khác hiệu quả hơn cần được tiến hành

Workable though longer imprisonment is, it can only act as a short-term measure but not a long-term one. Instead, there must be resolutions to what causes crime.

Ý 1: Facts indicate that the vast majority of criminal acts are rooted in poverty and unemployment; thus, what the government needs to do is creating more favourable conditions for investors, both domestic and foreign ones, in order to enhance their business.

→ When the demand for labour is boosted, the percentage of people out of work falls and so does the crime rate.

Ý 2: Some youngsters commit crime due to their low awareness as a result of insufficient education.

→ For example, some 15-23 year olds are unable to adjust their behaviors in accordance with social norms, imitating violence they see on media in real life and violating the laws.

→ Moral lessons from parents and schools are required to keep the young away from misconducts.
